Hi! My Name is Jimena, and this is how I got here:
Born in the late 80s, I was lucky to enjoy a (pretty much) screen free childhood. When I was 5 years old, my parents did their best to help me channel all that extra energy (which apparently was quite a lot) by taking me to art lessons. Over 30 years later I am still so thankful for their decision!
After graduating from Art and Design school I worked many years as a graphic designer. In the midst of the pandemic in 2020 I burned out and had to take a time out. I started painting landscapes and urban scenes every single day, and it really helped my mental health. I also started meditating, and discovered the importance of having a happy place to go back to.
I also started volunteering at a local dog shelter, where we met and adopted our lovely dog Jazzy. She has ultimately changed our lives forever.
After going through a very difficult time at home involving my husband's health, I got very close to another burn out.
So once again I started to paint what made me happy: our dogs. I am now enjoying a new and very fun line of work: pet portraits!
My mental health journey has taught me to slow down and enjoy the happy moments, but also the importance of keeping those happy memories around, which today, is my mission as an artist. My own home is a gallery of those happy memories involving both
my happy places and my dogs.
Seeing those happy memories physically around me every day, reminds me of the days that make everything else worth it.

If you would like to inquire about a custom dog portrait, your happy place, or commissions in general, feel free to email me at:
